View Full Version : Bug in thumb casting?

Version: 2.02beta_2 [codename: Christina]
I noticed thumbs not getting cast proberly the first couple of times. Tmanager registers a cast but the thumb was not on my site for more than a few minutes.
And sometimes I get a thumb that has:
CTR: 0
Casts: 4
Clicks: 0
LastCTR: 30
This is on a script version: 2.03 [codename: Linda]
Is it a bug?

this is copy/paste from my conversation but you should get idea.
Hollow Man (1:31 AM) :
can you answer my last question?
Hollow Man (1:31 AM) :
without being so arrogant?
-----
remark: I got arrogant because I was bugged why does productivity shifts within 20% margin during some hours - one hour is better other is worse.... now I wont coment this...
-----
Hollow Man (1:32 AM) :
I find an error in the script, I ask you something once in a while and this is the support I get - nice!
G_KnGhT (1:33 AM) :
yes, thumb does not get score calculated after first cast. meaning it needs 2casts to get ctr and lastctr. thos thumbs must have been on page, then they did not got any clicks at the first cast times.
G_KnGhT (1:33 AM) :
what error have you found now?
Hollow Man (1:33 AM) :
nevermind
G_KnGhT (1:33 AM) :
seriously
Hollow Man (1:33 AM) :
I gave you an example of a thumb with 4 casts
Hollow Man (1:34 AM) :
0 CTR and 0 Clicks and 30 LastCTR
G_KnGhT (1:34 AM) :
ok, 3 casts were without clicks and then one cast ago it got 30 - can happen, after 5th cast it should have ctr and lastctr.
Hollow Man (1:34 AM) :
it's impossible for a thumb to have 0 clicks with 400k traffic if it has been on page full casting period
G_KnGhT (1:34 AM) :
it is
G_KnGhT (1:34 AM) :
since reactive clicks aint counted
Hollow Man (1:35 AM) :
what are reactive clicks?
G_KnGhT (1:36 AM) :
einsteins time relativity - in real server time thumb aint on page anymore, but on some proxies or surfer browsers page still open - meaning there is not thumb on page NOW but it is on some browsers. those clicks aint counted cause they as well might be hitbots/your clicks from admin ect
G_KnGhT (1:37 AM) :
thats reactive clicks that follow thumb after its removed from page
Hollow Man (1:38 AM) :
ok, thanks for the explanation. The bug or I thought it being an error is, that new thumbs are thrown off the page a lot sooner than their cast period should be, this has been noticed by other TM user as well
Hollow Man (1:39 AM) :
is this normal behavior of TM?
G_KnGhT (1:39 AM) :
how do you mean - alot sooner? compared to what?
Hollow Man (1:40 AM) :
it's supposed to be there on the page 30 minutes and it is not
G_KnGhT (1:40 AM) :
its phisically not possible
Hollow Man (1:41 AM) :
it is thrown off the page before maybe 10 minutes go
Hollow Man (1:41 AM) :
ask meadint
G_KnGhT (1:41 AM) :
since you are not loadint dynamic page
G_KnGhT (1:41 AM) :
I will
G_KnGhT (1:42 AM) :
update shifts may very from site to site since its taking load on processor and we do shift them, but its not possible to take pic off the page as script alters index with new changes only once in 30minuts. however, it can take place when main update server is "not reachable" - backup kicks in. that is possible situation - they both update page. but that should not be too often
Hollow Man (1:44 AM) :
ok that explains it, but it is happening quite often.
G_KnGhT (1:44 AM) :
its also possible if we have duplicated entries on both servers.
G_KnGhT (1:44 AM) :
whats the sites that tends to do this?
Hollow Man (1:44 AM) :
so now you admit, that my script behavior is in fact affected by your servers
Hollow Man (1:45 AM) :
paradisenudes.com, fantasticnudes.com and ask meadint about his sites
Hollow Man (1:45 AM) :
he posted the topic on thumbsiteboard.com
G_KnGhT (1:45 AM) :
ok, will do that tomorrow
Hollow Man (1:46 AM) :
ok, you're probably tired from this conversation, so I'll let you go, good night :). I hope we can solve this somehow.
G_KnGhT (1:48 AM) :
yes, your scripts behaviour is affected by our servers as well as all other tmanager scripts. each update is processed by our server.

about that thumb off the page sooner stuff - can anybody comment it? cause its really phisycally NOT possible. you should have catched update moment and then another update moment. since all times are shifted and server time aint not tweaked I cannot imagine how did you got idea that new thumbs are thrown off page alot sooner? heck, even I dont know when my sites change content - I cant tell exact moment.
to do this you should have marked all thumbs, then catched exact moment when stats got update (eg clicked each minute on general stats) then loaded page, figured out and then waited and clicked again to catch another update...
now if you have done all that and its really less than it should be, I have couple questions:
1. whats the idea of all this?
2. do you really have that much free time to jerk on general stats?
3. would not it be easier to ask us to check it?
4. OK if there IS error, it must have been there since "zee beginning" - meaning that its functioning 2years now and with good results - whats the catch?

1. The idea was to point out a possible bug.
2. Ha ha ha, hell no! But sometimes when I add new thumbs I get so eager to see how they are doing so I Jerk around on stats. And I think I actually learned a lot that way. What works when, how and why.
3. I just did!!!!! :drink2:
4. I don't care how long time the bug has been there (if there is one). But if there is a bug I thought we all would be interested in getting it fixed. If you don't wanna know about possible bugs, why do we have a bug forum?
