After the beheading that's pretty much out of the question, isn't it?

Rumsfield is the Secretary of Defense for the U.S.
I think the beheading helps divert the attention, but Bush and Co. are trying to keep the rest of the photos and videos from being released so we shall see.

Bush and Kerry have basically the same background(Elite New England prep schools, ivy league education...rich families with political influence) however, I'd say that Kerry is actually the most accomplished of the two.

Why are you making such broad assumptions?
I'm critical of any office holder regardless of their political affiliation.

That's a pretty horrible analogy to the current situation, but I'll work with your framework.
It depends on a wide variety of factors, for example we could develop your framework either way.
1.) The worker spits on the customers order right in front of another worker. A customer receives the food and eats it. As manager, another worker tells you two days later.
a.) You call the worker into your office and immediately dismiss them, as well as call the police to press charges etc...
b.) You do nothing as manager and two months later the other worker leaks the story to the local press, along with documented evidence from the security camera. The taped evidence shows that you as manager knew the employee spit into some 5 year old childs happy meal, and did absolutely nothing about the employee.

you cant fire an employee beause another employee accused them of something. If you've got video proof, then watch the tape, thats 1 thing. If this other employee is going to have documented evidence, then the manager would be a complete dumbass for not firing them.
so are you saying rumsfeld had documented evidence of prisoners being mistreated & did nothing about it? cause honestly, im tired of listening to all the crap the news reports these days, when they let all this other shit slide.

Yes they have documented evidence the taguba report which came out in January and was leaked to the New Yorker magzine recently. The New Yorker was the first to publish a sotry about the abuse, and directly critiqued the report.
So, for the last 3 or so months Rumsfiled or more than likely his subordinates in the military were sitting on the documented evidence and chose to do nothing. Only recently, when the information was leaked have folks been upset about the issue. In addition, and perhaps more distribingly they didn't inform members of congress.
So, imho it is a sympton of a systematic of the structure of the current administration. They are trying to be like Nixon, but they lack the intelligence and acumen.
